Skin Peel & Dermalux at Skinsation Clinic

I recently met with Shadi at the Skinsation Clinic to discuss my skin routine and stocked up on some new products. This was my second skin peel and I am prepping my skin for microneedling to remove acne scars also.

Glycolic skin peels are an exfoliating treatment using glycolic acid, a gel solution derived from sugar cane. Which removes cells on the surface layer of the skin. The glycolic gel dissolves the glue like substance in the stratum corneum allowing dead thickened layers to lift away without wounding the skin.

Skin Peel

The skin peel is to improve the appearance of sun damage, acne, Scaring, premature ageing and hyperpigmentation. And also to;

– Decrease the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles

– Stimulate collagen and elastin

– Help the skin to appear smoother, healthier, plumper and firmer.

Post-Peel

The peel is often referred to as the “Lunchtime Peel” as the redness following the treatment is minimal, you should be able to return to your normal daily activities immediately. There is little or no actual peeling following the treatment, some people with dry skin may experience some mild flakiness in the days following treatment but it didn’t happen for me.

What happens during the peel?

The treatment begins by cleansing the skin of any impurities. Then the Glycolic gel is applied to the skin you may find the skin a little tingly and itchy but this sensation will be mild and will pass within a few minutes. Once the gel has been absorbed by the skin it will be rinsed using water and sponges. Then a chilled mask will be applied, specific to your skin type. Once removed we will apply a moisturizer and a sunscreen to protect the skin.

Dermalux LED Phototherapy Treatment

I also tried the Dermalux LED Phototherapy treatment for the first time after I had the peel. Dermalux is a non-invasive treatment that harnesses the power of pure light for visibly radiant, rejuvenated and refined skin.

Dermalux can be used in combination with regular skin treatments to help upgrade and accelerate results and as part of your essential skin health programme.

After just one treatment the Dermalux instantly revitalises the complextion to restore luminosity. A course of the treatment offers long lasting visible results, stimulating the skin’s natural repair processes to speed up cell renewal, resolve problem skin conditions and promote vibrant health-looking skin.

The Dermalux has three settings and delivers skin specific combinations of clinically proven Blue, Red and Near Infrared wavelenghts to boost collagen and elastin production, improve circulation, reduce redness and irritation and destroy blemish causing bacteria.

Using the latest generation LED technology ensures a safe and targeted delivery of light at the optimum intensity for maximum skin enhancing results.

I found the Dermalux a relaxing pain free experience as your skin absorbs the energising light and kick starts cell regeneration and restores radiance. I was under the Dermalux for 20 minutes and it just felt like a heat sensation.

My skin was so smooth and glowing after the treatments. One of my goals for 2019 is to improve my skin so I can’t wait to get started on the microneedling.
