A Fashion, Beauty & Lifestyle Blog
I set up Fashion Truth by Ruth in September 2014 to combine my love for social media, my passion for fashion, cosmetics and beauty, along with portraying my social media and marketing experience that I have learned from my business and marketing college degree.
I thought it would be a fun new hobby to start blogging and share my honest opinions, tips, advice and experience on my blog, and have never looked back since.
The Blog Name
It was really important to me to have the word ‘truth’ in my blog’s name as I think it is really important to be truthful in your experiences and what you write about as a blogger and to be the best role model you can be, if anything out of respect to the people that follow you or read your blog.
My blog has been nominated for numerous awards by the Irish Beauty Blog Awards, Online Marketing in Galway (OMIG) and the Irish Blogger Association.
I am also a member of Into The West Blogger Network (ITWBN). My blog was recently chosen as a Semi-Finalist in the Online Marketing in Galway (OMIG) awards for ‘Social Media’ and made it as a Finalist for ‘Best Blog’. Click here to read more.
I’m originally from Malahide in Dublin. I lived in Dublin until I was eight. Then my family moved to Roscommon where I lived until I started college in GMIT in Galway in 2009, eight years ago.
During my time in college, I would travel back and forth between Roscommon and Galway, traveling home every weekend to work in a local bakery and coffee shop.
It was always very important to me to be self-sufficient and to be able to fund and provide for myself, I think it has really helped me as I got older and you know that if you want something you have to motivate yourself, work hard and go out and get it.
Life After College
In 2014 I completed my four year Bachelor of Business (Honors) degree from GMIT where I specialized in Marketing. I found Marketing really interesting, and I especially loved Digital Marketing and Social Media.
After finishing college I worked in River Island in Galway for a year.
River Island has always been my favourite high-street shop, everything
in my wardrobe is practically from River Island! I really enjoyed working there as I am a huge fashion lover and it was then I decided to combine my love for fashion and social media and create my very own blog, sharing outfits, and beauty tips and tricks.
I then moved to GMIT Students’ Union where I worked as a Marketing & Communications Executive and then to GALWAYnow magazine working as a Marketing & Events Executive.
I got into modelling when I was in college and it really hit off for me in 2014, I got the AMAZING opportunity to represent my county at Miss Ireland in June 2014 as Miss Roscommon and it was an unbelievable experience I will
never forget it!
It’s always been my dream to compete in Miss Ireland and it was such an exciting experience.
I was also in competitions such as Diva Next Door, Miss Galway and Miss University (representing my college GMIT at the time). Click here to read more.
I currently work as a freelance Marketing Consultant and also spends a lot of time working on my blog.
I am a firm believer in Karma, and that if you work hard and never give up, good things will happen and success will find you.
